How often should I be doing a care and cleaning routine?

DAILY Care and Cleaning

Mask Seal/Cushion/Pillows – wipe daily with either a CPAP wipe or a cloth with warm soapy water (tap water with a small amount of gentle dish soap), this is necessary to remove oils, sweat and skin cells before use.

Water Chamber – Empty any leftover water daily, rinse with mild soap and water. To prevent the build-up of mineral deposits in your humidifier use only distilled water.

WEEKLY Care and Cleaning

Hand wash only- mild soap -supplies should always be clean, clear and free of discoloration.

Mask with headgear – soak in warm water and mild dish soap (non-antibacterial) then gently scrub using soft bristles and rinse with fresh water. Place a towel on a flat surface to dry, avoid placing in direct sunlight. These supplies should always be clean, clear and free of discoloration. Avoid using stronger cleaning products, including bleach or CLR, as they may damage the mask or leave harmful residue which you would then be breathing in. Vinegar and water can also be used to soak supplies to remove build up.

Tubing – soak in warm water and mild dish soap (non-antibacterial) then gently scrub inside of tubing using tube brush and rinse with fresh water. Hang to dry, avoid placing in direct sunlight. These supplies should always be clean, clear and free of discoloration. Avoid using stronger cleaning products, including bleach or CLR, as they may damage the mask or leave harmful residue which you would then be breathing in. Vinegar and water can also be used to soak supplies to remove build up.

If excessive build up soak water chamber in a solution of 1-part white vinegar and 1-part water for 15-20 minute, then rinse with water.

Filter – Filter should be replaced every 1-3 months with new filter, it is not recommended to clean filter with water.

Do not use aromatic-based solutions or scented oils (eg, eucalyptus or essential oils, bleach, alcohol or products that smell strongly to clean any components. Residual vapors from these solutions can be inhaled if not rinsed thoroughly. They may damage supply components.

MONTHLY Care and Cleaning

PAP Unit – use a mild soapy solution and apply with a moistened cloth. Unplug the unit before cleaning it. Wipe dry. Allow equipment to dry thoroughly before use.
